Celiac Disease: Medical Myths and Milestones
The 2017 Celiac Symposium, Celiac Disease: Medical Myths and Milestones will feature speakers from our event partner, the Harvard Medical School Celiac Research Program, and vendors. A gluten-free buffet breakfast and lunch will be included. Click here to see the schedule for the day.
- The Harvard Medical School Celiac Research Program was created in 2013 with the Beth Israel Deaconess Celiac Center, the
Boston Children’s Hospital Celiac Disease Program and the Mass General Hospital Center for Celiac Research and Treatment. Scientists and physicians from the group meet monthly, collaborating on educational outreach and innovative research projects to improve the quality of life for people with celiac disease and gluten-related disorders. Current research projects include biomarkers in patients with non-celiac gluten sensitivity and retrospectively evaluating the frequency of mucosal recovery in pediatric patients with celiac disease. The April 1, 2017 symposium, “Celiac Disease: Medical Myths and Milestones,” is the second symposium held in partnership with the New England Celiac Organization for healthcare practitioners and patients and families.
Developed in 1993, the New England Celiac Organization, once known as the Healthy Villi, has been a member-driven group providing education and advocacy for and support to individuals and families with celiac disease and non-celiac gluten sensitivity. This active group has been making a difference in the health and quality of life for thousands of people, through its Gluten Free New England magazine, a user-friendly website and monthly e-newsletter. NECO is thrilled to partner with the Harvard Medical School Celiac Research Program on Celiac Disease: Medical Myths and Milestones.
Early bird pricing is now available for tickets for members, non-members, and RDs/RNs looking to earn CEUs. Please note that despite ticket prices, the actual cost of the event is $125 per person. We would be grateful for any donations to make up for this cost.
If you’d like to spend the night at the hotel, there is a block of rooms reserved under “New England Celiac Organization” or “Symposium.” Reserve your room by March 8 to take advantage of the discount.
NECO recognizes its responsibilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to provide reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities.
